July 2011 saw the opening of a new interpretation centre on the Jurassic Coast at Sidmouth. The Arches Interpretation centre have been devegloped in renovated seafront arches and provide an introduction to the Jurassic Coast, the town of Sidmouth and its attractions, the surrounding countryside and the South West Coast Path. The unmanned, free to enter centre has been developed and its managed by Sidmouth Town Council with funding from the Keith Owen Fund, Devon County Council, Fine Family Foundation and East Devon AONB.
The interpretation features large images and key information to guide the visitor to explore Sidmouth and its environs. With a map of the area, walk routes, short films, the Jurassic Coast interactive, Jurassic flip books and secret peepholes to find there is plenty to discover and if the weather is inclement then rest your legs on the artist designed seat inspired by the coast.
