Residents and visitors are being invited to have their say about four key areas of development planned for the popular coastal town of West Bay.
The Dorset Coast Forum, working with the Bridport and West Bay Coastal Community Team (CCT) and four project teams led by The Jurassic Coast and Dorset AONB teams, Dorset County Council, Environment Agency and Bridport Area Development Trust, is hosting two drop-in engagement events to encourage people to have their say about the plans.
The consultations with members of the project teams will be at the Salt House, West Bay at the following times:
Tuesday 4th July, 11:00am – 5:30pm
Sunday 9th July, 12 :00– 4:00pm
These sessions will allow the community to express their ideas and suggestions for each project, all of which have been funded through the Coastal Community Fund. Three of the projects are part of the Dorset Coastal Connections project and the other one, for the refurbishment of the former Methodist Chapel, is led by the Bridport Area Development Trust.
The four projects up for consultation are:
- Access to East Beach – from the car park to the crest of the beach
- West Bay Discovery Centre – formerly the Methodist Chapel
- West Bay Welcome Zone – the concrete area in front of The George
- Cycle Path from Bridport to West Bay
The projects will be delivered in the next two years, with this consultation process seeking the views of the community and visitors being the first stage. Each project is being developed and delivered to suit the individual needs of the local area, and Dorset Coast Forum is working with visitors and residents to ensure the projects fit with the local culture, identity and heritage and provides results which are welcomed.
If you’re interested in inputting into the future of West Bay and its role within the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, we can highly recommend attending one of these two sessions.
