The Jurassic Coast Trust is organising a series of six guided walks over the summer period, helping locals and visitors alike to explore our incredible World Heritage Site and to unlock its fascinating stories.
The walks series kicks off in Beer, East Devon, next Thursday 21st July. It then takes in West Bay, Abbotsbury, Ringstead and Sidmouth, before concluding with the recently reopened Undercliffs Nature Reserve. The walks range in duration from three to five hours and explore a wide variety of terrains and settings.
All walks are led by local Jurassic Coast “Ambassadors”, specially trained volunteers who work with the Trust to promote understanding and engagement with the Jurassic Coast. Each Ambassador will add their own perspective to their walk, offering expert commentary about the incredible geology, scenery, human history and wildlife on display in each area.
Places on each walk are £5 per person, with a “season ticket” covering all six walks available for £20. All proceeds go the Trust to enable them to continue their work. The walks are suitable for all ages and take place at various times of day. For more information and to book visit our online shop or email Guy – [email protected]. Each walk is limited to 20 places to ensure all participants’ enjoyment and safety.
Guy Kerr from the Jurassic Coast Trust says, “”The Jurassic Coast is spectacular in summer, with the warmer weather and long evenings making for a fabulous walking experience. It’s so varied – from the stunning cliffs of West Bay to the jungle-like terrain of the Undercliffs. We’re looking forward to our Ambassadors sharing their knowledge of and passion for the coast with old friends and new.”
Norah Jaggers, Jurassic Coast Ambassador from Beer, says, “We look forward to sharing our amazing World Heritage Site with visitors and locals alike over the summer. The Jurassic Coast is a world class walking destination, and there is so much you can learn and experience over the course of a short walk.”
