Tracey Guiry has been appointed as Project Development Manager for the exciting Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Interpretation Centres planned for Exmouth and Seaton.
She has had over 10 years experience directing and fundraising for a variety of large-scale visitor attractions and agencies in the cultural and leisure sectors, most recently as CEO of the regional creative development agency, ArtsMatrix Ltd. She has also worked as a consultant ‘trouble-shooter’ for other visitor attractions that need help in sustaining their activities including the Royal Observatory at Greenwich’s National Maritime Museum.
Tracey says “I’m thrilled to be working in East Devon. There are so many brilliant stories to be told about this part of the coastline so these centres will be exceptional, engaging and really fun places to visit. It’s not often you get to work on projects that have such great aspirations and integrity – and I can’t wait to help the projects open their doors to the public! The first part of the process in developing any visitor attraction is to ensure that there is a strong and vital business case for a centre, so I’ll be concentrating on the ways in which the centres will be able to sustain their operations.”
Tracey has had a busy few months since taking up her appointment in September. As well as working with the local groups in each town she has also been active on governance arrangements and taking the first steps to establishing a Board to take responsibility for the Centres’ operations.
Tracey’s post is the result of a partnership between Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exmouth Town Council and Seaton Town Council.
