For a second year running, the Jurassic Coast website has continued to enjoy a high number of virtual visitors, with an average well in excess of 1000 unique visits every day.
So, lets compare a few 2008 statistics with the previous year’s performance and see whether we’ve done even better than our launch year of 2007.
During 2007 there were 385,277 unique visits – thats a daily average of 1055. in 2008 we exceeded this number by 31,367 making a grand total of 416,644 – thats a daily average of 1141.
The highest number of visits were recorded in May, with a total of 1877. and during April and June we clocked up in excess of 1500 for each of these months. The number of hits was consequently high, with a monthly total of 938,970 for May, and 698,900 and 854,691 for April and June respectively.
Throughout 2008, we have also been developing further aspects of the site. You’ll notice a new podcast on the homepage which was recorded by our German internship student who worked with us during the summer. And there are more plans afoot to produce a wider range of translated podcasts in 2009, working with Colfox Language Resource Centre through the Regional Language Network. Also, funding permitting, we plan to create a brand new fossil image gallery, which we know from website feedback, is very much in demand – so, watch this space!
