The Jurassic Coast Trust are excited to announce that its range of Official Books about the coast are now set to make a bigger difference to safeguarding England’s only natural World Heritage Site. After working with the local publisher Coastal Publishing for many years, the Trust have recently taken over publishing these books, including the very popular Official Guide to the Jurassic Coast, Fossils of the Jurassic Coast and a range of stunning postcards.
The change now means that all proceeds from book sales will go towards helping the Trust look after the World Heritage Site, for now and for future generations, and to help residents and visitors have a better experience of it.
The Trust is grateful to Peter Sills of Coastal Publishing with whom they have worked for more than 15 years to create these well-liked and well-priced books. Small contributions from the sales of the publications have raised more than £100,000 since 2001 to support the Jurassic Coast, and the Trust is now hoping to double that in coming years.
Since taking on the main role for safeguarding the Jurassic Coast from Dorset and Devon County Councils, the Trust is looking to develop ways to meet its new Vision – that everybody loves understands and values the Jurassic Coast – and the books are very important for this.
Sam Rose, Chief Exec of the Jurassic Coast Trust says: “The range of Jurassic Coast Trust books tell the incredible stories of the Jurassic Coast in simple and engaging ways. Whether about fossils, coastal walks or Jurassic sea-monster stickers, they are beautifully presented and well-loved. Now they have the added benefit of raising more funds to safeguard the Jurassic Coast.”
The books can be bought from many local outlets or from the Jurassic Coast Trust’s online shop. Alternatively, the Trust is looking for more retailers to spread the love about the Jurassic Coast, so interested outlets should visit jurassiccoast.link/books or call us on 01308 807 000.
