Mouse the dog is a sandy-coloured whippet belonging to Publications Assistant Joanna. Sleek and shy, Mouse’s favourite hideout is under a duvet. Conversely, when out and about she is an ever-curious explorer who loves nothing better than an adventure on the Jurassic Coast. “Be prepared” is Mouse’s motto, whether that’s wearing enough layers (Mouse is a big fan of winter knits) or knowing where she is going, Mouse never ventures far without an Ordnance Survey map.
“Mouse loves walking (or running) the coast path from Stonebarrow towards Golden Cap, over to Seatown and Eype,” says Joanna. “With the help of an OS Map she has found all sorts of pathways inland where she makes the most of every season: seeing if she can spot a deer in the woods in Autumn, playing in the long grass in the meadows in Summer, or posing for photos among the Spring bluebells.”
“Dorset is fortunate to have a whole network of footpaths and having a good map makes it easy to create your own favourite walks; and of course it means that Mouse can be sure her owner will find her way back so she can take up her lounge lizard persona for the rest of the day…”
