Our Finance Manager Helen loves the outdoors even more than being in the office. Together with her dog Poppy and family, she likes to roam the open spaces and beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Helen has chosen Chesil Beach camping mugs by local artist Jenny Hunt as her Christmas staff pick.
“At this time of year I love a long walk along the Coast, in particular the walk along Ballard Down towards Old Harry Rocks. One of Jenny’s mugs is perfect to put in my rucksack along with a flask of tea. It’s light-weight, non-breakable and nice to drink out of when energy levels are flagging. My favourite design is Winter – I like the muted colours and the flora and fauna of Chesil Beach that you can still find in the coldest season.
Jenny’s mugs are a great addition to a summer camping trip or beach barbecue – it doesn’t have to be tea that you drink from it!”
We stock Jenny Hunt’s camping mugs in all 4 seasons. The text and images on the mugs are taken from Jenny’s book A Year on Chesil Beach.
“The Dorset landscape has a luminosity stemming from the chalky bedrock beneath. I think this light is a residue of the sea which once covered the area, leaving layers of tiny white fossils. This special light is something I try to capture in my work from landscapes and seascapes to the smallest shell.”
