A report published this week revealed Dorset and Devon are the most popular counties in the United Kingdom.
YouGov polled more than 42,000 people and found that 92% liked Dorset and Devon respectively, which put them in joint top position ahead of Cornwall.
In fact, of the top 5 counties, 4 were located in the South West, with North Yorkshire being the only county outside of this region to feature in the top 5.
The key to their success is undoubtedly the counties popularity as a holiday destination, with tourists flocking to both Devon and Cornwall to admire the stunning coastline and landscapes for which they are renowned.
Sam Rose of the Jurassic Coast Trust said: “Landmarks such as Durdle Door and Old Harry’s Rocks are undoubtedly highlights of the area, attracting thousands of visitors each year. We are proud that the Jurassic Coast is such a draw to the area and has contributed to making the county so special to visitors across the country. It is fantastic to see both counties feature in a national report and given the notoriety they deserve.”
