The Jurassic Coast Trust recently notched ten years of support from their first and still largest Business Partner, West Dorset Leisure Holidays.
Through small donations of £1 or less from visitors across the company’s parks, over £65,000 has now been raised in the last decade for the Jurassic Coast Trust, helping to protect and conserve England’s only natural World Heritage Site and to educate and inspire people about it.
West Dorset Leisure Holidays raise funds through an optional donation component being added to customers’ bookings. In the decade since the programme was established in 2008, it has been incredibly successful, often recording rates of up to 80% across a year of people choosing to make the donation.
West Dorset Leisure Holidays are leaders in the field of charitable support in the area, and their generosity has inspired other businesses large and small across the coast to join the Jurassic Coast Trust as Business Partners, contributing towards the ongoing stewardship of the World Heritage Site.
Securing and maintaining support from local businesses is more important than ever, as the Jurassic Coast Trust has taken on a greater role in management of the World Heritage Site in 2017.
Sam Rose, Chief Executive of the Jurassic Coast Trust said, “We are delighted to have the ongoing support of West Dorset Leisure Holidays. A decade of partnership between our organisations and £65,00 raised are significant milestones. They are a brilliant pioneer in terms of local businesses giving something back to safeguard our unique local environment, and are such a lovely company to work with. The fact that the donations come from thousands of visitors to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site each contributing a small amount to look after it is testament to the love people have for this part of the world.”
