Steve Etches on Kimmeridge Beach
The Etches Collection – Museum of Jurassic Marine Life in the village of Kimmeridge will open on Friday 21st October 2016.
The new museum will house the remarkable collection of one man’s passion, bringing to life the stories from deep time through a unique and amazing collection of marine fossils many of which are unique to science.
Steve Etches’ collection of over 2,500 specimens includes crocodiles, sharks, flying reptiles, corals, shells, insects, crustaceans, ichthyosaurs, belemnites and dinosaurs. Whilst exploring these amazing exhibits, CGI projections on the ceiling will give visitors the impression of being underwater some 150 million years ago. The visible workshop will enable people to watch Steve Etches as he cleans and conserves his latest finds.

The fossils will be housed in a purpose built £5 million Heritage Lottery Funded building on the Jurassic Coast. The museum has a dedicated education, study and research centre – a facility for activities and learning. There is also a flexible space for hire and community led activities.
The Etches Collection – Museum of Jurassic Marine Life will open 10am until 5pm, 7 days a week during school holidays, term time opening will be reduced hours.
Ticket prices: £8 adults, £4 children 3 – 16, under 3’s free. Family tickets of 2 adults, 2 children or 1 adult, 3 children £16. Tickets with Gift Aid donation are valid for one year from the date of purchase for free return visits during normal opening hours, with the exception of special events and ticketed events.
