We will be there during the sailing events from Saturday 28th July until Saturday 11th August, as part of ‘Natural Weymouth and Portland’. Key organisations have joined together to provide the best possible offer to visitors and spectators during the Games with regards to providing information on Dorset’s outstanding coast, countryside and biodiversity.
The Bayside Festival will be located in the Pavilion car park, en route to the new Weymouth Observation Tower, so there should be a huge throughput of visitors. The agencies, which includes Dorset Wildlife Trust, Environment Agency, Dorset Coast Forum and Natural England, will work together with the aim of engaging visitors of all ages with the natural environment all around them, through such activities as the ever popular fossil digs, a ‘Natural’ Quiz and a fossil handling collection. We also hope to have, for the first time, impressive fossil representations of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous eras of geological time as a centrepiece to our ‘Natural’ area.
Please come down to see us, or if you are interested in volunteering during the two weeks, please do let us know.
