The first part of 2011 will see the Jurassic Coast Team and partners out on the road, and coming to a Town Hall near you. We are undertaking an extensive set of public meetings in this, the 10th anniversary year of the coast’s inscription on the World Heritage List.
The Jurassic Coast Roadshows, which will mainly take place in the Gateway Towns, are being done for a number of reasons. The first is to update members of the public about what has been going on along the World Heritage Site over the last 9 years, and there is lots to talk about. The second is to introduce people to the Site’s Management Plan and look forward to see what’s in store in the coming years. The final reason, and arguably the most important, is to tell local residents how they can get involved in the Site’s management, whether through helping at events, on conservation projects, through the Quality Business Scheme or through being an Ambassador.
The meetings will comprise a drop-in session, with displays and activities for kids, and then an hour-long presentation followed by time for questions. Look at the list below and for more details in your local media. We look forward to seeing you there.
The following public meetings will be held 4-7pm at:
27 Jan Weymouth Pavilion, Weymouth;
9 Feb Exmouth Council Chamber, Exmouth;
16 Feb Public Hall, Budleigh Salterton;
22 Feb Community 2000 Easton, Portland;
2 March Salt House, West Bay, Bridport;
3 March Mariners Hall, Beer; and
16 March Town Hall, Seaton.
