Due to popular demand, the East Devon ‘travelling around the Jurassic Coast by bus, foot, bike, train and boat’ leaflet, is back for the summer. Now with even more services to choose from, it promises to be a great season for people using the bus – and this leaflet will make it easier for everyone, especially visitors, to do just that.
Funded by Devon County Council, the East Devon travel leaflet provides user-friendly information about sustainable travel options along the East Devon part of the Jurassic Coast covering walking, cycling, or catching the bus, train or a boat.
It contains timetable information for 11 services including the infamous CoastlinX 53 Jurassic Coast Bus. The presentation of the information has been designed to make it quick and easy to see which buses go where, and how frequent they are. It is helpful to let passengers know how long their journey is likely to take them, so indications of time taken between stops is a really useful feature of the leaflet – especially if you’re a visitor to the area and are unsure about local distances.
Good partnership working with organisations such as the South West Coast Path National Trail Team and Sustran, together with local government transport officers, has resulted in this ever popular leaflet.
Feedback from Tourist Information Centres has given nothing but praise – it is just what was needed to help inform – and encourage – visitors to travel sustainably in East Devon. Now the challenge is to roll out something similar for West Dorset and Purbeck to complete the offer – there is a demand for such information provision, as Dorset TICs have already been asking for something along the same lines as the East Devon leaflet for visitors to Dorset.
