The annual series of guided walks ‘Rock Around the Coast’ was a great success this year. There were more walkers, more leaders and more miles than in any of the previous years that Rock Around the Coast has run.
Every Saturday over fourteen weeks, a relay of experienced guides with a variety of expertise each led a walk along a section of the South West Coast Path National Trail. Starting in Studland Bay at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, the walks gradually worked westwards, each one starting where the previous one finished. Finally on the 29th August, the last group of walkers arrived at Exmouth at the western end of the World Heritage Site.
There were a group of hardy walkers that come on several walks and one who did almost all of them! All the leaders received excellent feedback and are looking forward to next year.
If you think you’ve missed out then don’t worry! Rock Around the Coast is due to run again in 2010 with a walk every Saturday between the 29th May and the 28th August. Keep your eyes peeled for publicity in the new year.
