Holidaymakers at one of Dorset’s largest holiday park operators have raised over £70,000 for the Jurassic Coast Trust since 2008, helping people to look after and understand England’s natural World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast.
West Dorset Leisure Holidays have raised funds through an optional donation being added to customers’ bookings across their five holiday parks, which has accumulated over the last ten years to in excess of £70,000. West Dorset Leisure Holidays are leaders in the field of charitable support along the Jurassic Coast, and their generosity has inspired over 60 other businesses large and small across the coast and beyond to join the Jurassic Coast Trust as Business Partners, contributing towards the ongoing protection of the World Heritage Site.
Securing and maintaining support from businesses is critical in enabling the Jurassic Coast Trust to carry out its work as the main organisation responsible for managing the World Heritage Site.
Martin Cox from West Dorset Leisure Holidays said, “It is great to be able to contribute to the Jurassic Coast Trust, and we are proud to have passed the £70,000 fundraising mark. We are very lucky to live in West Dorset and for our visitors to be able to give something back to the local area is an added benefit for all of us.”
Sam Rose, Chief Executive of the Jurassic Coast Trust said, “We are delighted to have the ongoing support of West Dorset Leisure Holidays. A decade of partnership between our organisations is a significant milestone. They are a brilliant pioneer in terms of local businesses giving something back to safeguard our unique local environment, and are such a lovely company to work with. The fact that the donations come from thousands of visitors to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site each contributing a small amount to look after it is testament to the love people have for this part of the world.”
